No. 13 Ohio State was able to avoid an upset in Happy Valley on Saturday night, holding off Penn State in double-overtime to claim a 31-24 victory.

For the Buckeyes, it's their fifth consecutive win as they look to get back into the national title conversation following a disappointing home loss to Virginia Tech on Sept. 6.

"The objective has been from day one to compete for a championship in November," Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer told ESPN's Holly Rowe after the game. "Check off another one. We'll get ready to go next Saturday."

Neither offense was able to really get going in the game. Ohio State netted all of 74 yards through the air, though running back Ezekiel Elliott and quarterback J.T. Barrett combined to run for 184 yards and three touchdowns.

Penn State quarterback Christian Hackenberg completed 31 of his 49 pass attempts for 224 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions. Wide receiver DaeSean Hamilton brought in 14 balls for 126 yards.

Next up for Ohio State is a home date with Illinois on Nov. 1.
