Alabama's Amari Cooper sets school record for most receiving yards in a game

Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

Alabama wide receiver Amari Cooper broke Julio Jones's Crimson Tide school record for most receiving yards in a game Saturday night against Tennessee.

The junior wide receiver had racked up nine catches for 224 yards and two touchdowns by the waning minutes of the fourth quarter.

A large chunk of those yards came on Alabama's opening offensive play in the first quarter, an 80-yard touchdown strike.

Previously, Jones - now in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons - registered 221 yards against Tennessee in 2010 in a game that was also played in Knoxville.

Coming into the game, the standout Cooper had caught 62 balls for 908 yards and seven touchdowns. Those numbers were good for fourth in the NCAA in both receptions and receiving yards.
