Oklahoma's Joe Mixon may have trial delayed until December

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

Oklahoma freshman running back Joe Mixon may wait a few more months before his looming misdemeanor trial begins.

The Oklahoman's Ryan Aber and Jason Kersey report that the trial is currently scheduled for Oct. 27, however, the class schedules of several witnesses could push the date much later.

Mixon landed in hot water when he was charged with one count of acts resulting in gross injury. Footage released by the Norman Police Department allegedly show Mixon punching 20-year-old OU student Amelia Rae Molitor at a restaurant in Norman, Okla., on July 25.

In August, Oklahoma suspended Mixon for the entire season, but he remains a student at the school. If convicted, Mixon could face up to one year in jail.

A Cleveland County, Oklahoma district judge scheduled a pretrial hearing for Friday.
