Former Ole Miss quarterback Archie Manning will be stepping down from the College Football Playoff Committee for this season due to health reasons, reports ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

College Football Playoff executive director Bill Hancock confirmed Manning will be taking a leave of absence from the selection committee for the remainder of the 2014 season.

“We will miss Archie,” Hancock said in a press release. “He has such a great knowledge of college football and history with the game, but we all understand his reason for taking a leave. I wish him all the best and look forward to his return in 2015.”

Rather than add another member, the selection committee will proceed with 12 members for the 2014 season. The first set of rankings compiled by the selection committee are due to come out on Oct. 28.
