Texas defensive tackle Jackson to have ankle surgery, out for season

Texas defensive tackle Desmond Jackson will miss the rest of the season after suffering a serious injury on Saturday, according to head coach Charlie Strong.

Jackson was carted off in the third quarter of Saturday's loss to the UCLA Bruins with what Strong later revealed was an ankle injury.

He will undergo surgery, the Longhorns head coach said.

Jackson apologized for his role in Saturday's coin toss that gave UCLA the ball on a possession Texas should have had.

The senior had 11 total tackles in three games.
