When the camera pans across the stands as Penn State battles the University of Massachusetts in Beaver Stadium on Saturday, the crowd will be filled with khaki pants, dark glasses and black shoes for a "Joe-out" honoring former head coach Joe Paterno.

According to the Centre Daily Times, “Penn State fans are encouraged to bring a cardboard figure of the longtime coach, a Joe mask, a JVP hat. For many on social media, there are plans for things with the number 409, the total wins for Paterno’s coaching career before 111 victories were vacated.”

Paterno was dismissed in 2012 in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky scandal. The NCAA handed Penn State a four-year bowl ban while taking away 10 scholarships per season.

Penn State's postseason eligibility and scholarships were reinstated Sept. 8.
