Southern Methodist University head coach June Jones resigned only two games into his seventh season at the school, citing ''some personal reasons'' for his sudden decision.

University of Central Florida head coach George O'Leary chimed in on Jones's resignation Monday during the AAC teleconference.

"I spoke to June at media days in Newport," O'Leary said. "I haven't spoken to June since, but I think something was going on that he just didn't understand or like as far as the school with some rules that they had there, but I'm not at liberty to talk about because I'm not sure what they were. But I knew there were some things that were bothering him at that time."

SMU's defensive coordinator Tom Mason is currently serving as interim head coach.
