Central Michigan running back Thomas Rawls will be out indefinitely as he faces three felony charges, Nate Schneider reported.

The Morning Sun News reported that Rawls, 21, was arrested by Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police Sunday. He was scratched from the CMU lineup just hours before the noon kickoff at Kelly/Shorts Stadium on Saturday.

Rawls is named in an arrest warrant for three felonies, each punishable by up to four years in prison and a $5,000 fine. They include: Larceny for stealing a purse belonging to a 62-year-old casino patron; possession of stolen credit cards; and stealing credit cards, including a Visa card and three store credit cards.

A Saginaw Chippewa Tribal Police officer wrote that video surveillance from the casino shows Rawls entering a casino eatery with two other men, observing an abandoned purse in a chair and sitting on it.

After sitting on the purse, he handed it to one of his friends, who placed it in a bag before the pair left the casino.

The officer also said Rawls used stolen debit and credit cards from the purse to buy several items, including $33.77 worth of gas.

Rawls faces arraignment in Isabella County Trial Court at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The Michigan transfer rushed for 276 yards and three touchdowns on 56 attempts prior to CMU's 40-3 win over Syracuse Saturday.
