TCU's Patterson: 'I don't know anything about' CFP selection process

Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

Through three years of the College Football Playoff era, TCU coach Gary Patterson hasn't been able to wrap his head around the process through which the selection committee chooses its four participants.

"To be honest, I don't know anything about the playoff three years in," he told Chuck Carlton of the Dallas Morning News.

Specifically, Patterson cited Ohio State getting into the field last year despite failing to win its conference - a factor the committee said in previous years was significant when weighing a team's case.

Patterson has been a critic of the playoff format and its selection committee since his 12-1 Horned Frogs were left out of the bracket at the end of the 2014 season. TCU was hurt that season by the fact that the Big 12 didn't hold a championship game. The conference is set to reintroduce a title game this season.
