Butch Jones hires Jimmy Sexton as agent

Butch Jones thought a change was in order after not receiving a contract extension following last season, and as such the Tennessee head coach has hired agent Jimmy Sexton as his representation, according to Blake Morgan of SEC Country.

If Sexton's name sounds familiar, that's probably because he also represents Alabama head coach Nick Saban and Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher.

“That’s something that happens in this business,” Jones said.

Following Hugh Freeze's resignation from Ole Miss, Jones has the sixth largest contract in the SEC, something he may have aspirations of increasing. Tennessee athletic director John Currie has gone on record saying an extension for Jones hasn't been discussed.

“We have not had specific conversations about (a new contract), we’ve had a lot of conversations about our program,” Currie said in June during a Big Orange Caravan stop in Memphis, Tenn. “And we’re really focused on getting ready for the season doing a great job with recruiting, as he’s doing, and getting to know each other."

Jones' salary is $4.1 million and his contract runs through 2020.
