Alabama ties SEC record for consecutive years with a 1st-round pick
It happened a little later than many expected, but it was never in doubt that Alabama would produce a first-round pick for the ninth straight year.
When the Baltimore Ravens drafted cornerback Marlon Humphrey 16th overall Thursday, they made it nine straight years that Alabama's had a first-round pick. Teammate Jonathan Allen was selected one pick later by the Washington Redskins and O.J. Howard was taken 19th overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, giving Alabama 21 total first-round picks since Nick Saban became head coach in 2008.
By extending their streak to nine years, the Crimson Tide tied Florida for the longest such streak in the SEC. The Gators' run went from 1983 through 1991.
The all-time leader for consecutive years with a first-round draft pick belongs to Miami (FL), which went 14 straight (1995-2008).
