Former Louisville cornerback Shaq Wiggins is transferring to Tennessee as a graduate student for his final collegiate season, he announced Wednesday.

The move to Knoxville will mark Wiggins' second stint in the SEC. He began his career at Georgia before transferring to the Cardinals, with whom he played two seasons in three years. He sat out the 2014 campaign to satisfy NCAA transfer rules for undergraduate students.

Wiggins was a full-time starter for Louisville in 2015, but had his playing time slashed significantly in 2016, in part due to injuries. The Tyrone, Ga., native collected eight tackles in eight games last season.

Wiggins announced his decision to transfer out of Louisville on March 20, but controversy followed after he revealed head coach Bobby Petrino had blocked him from going to five schools, including Mississippi State. Wiggins was rumored to be strongly interested in joining the Bulldogs, where he would've been reunited with defensive coordinator Todd Grantham.

Petrino eventually lifted the ban, but Wiggins ultimately decided to play his final season with Tennessee, which was never on Petrino's list.
