Oklahoma State's Justice Hill: Recovering from offseason shoulder surgery

Hill is still recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, which prevented him from playing in Oklahoma State's spring game over the weekend, Kyle Fredrickson of The Oklahoman reports. "I'm working every day getting back better. I'm almost at 100 percent [health] toward the end of the month," said Hill, who noted that he would be ready for the start of fall camp.

Analysis:

Cowboys coach Mike Gundy indicated that Hill had been dealing with the shoulder injury prior to his first collegiate season, and though it didn't hinder his on-field performance, surgery was recommended over the winter in order to prevent the issue from morphing into a long-term concern. The 5-foot-10 tailback looks like he'll be at the center of the Cowboys offense for at least the next two seasons after he won Big 12 Newcomer of the Year honors in 2016 while rushing from 1,142 yards, tops among FBS freshmen.
