FSU's Jimbo Fisher: 'I was an a--hole' during spring practices

While a 10-3 record would be considered a major success at most schools, Jimbo Fisher and Florida State are used to competing for national championships, not struggling to hit double-digit win totals.

As a result of the Seminoles' second straight 10-3 season, the veteran head coach decided to step things up a notch in spring practices and bring the heat down on his players.

"I was hell this spring," Fisher told Corey Clark of the Tallahassee Democrat. "I was never happy. I was pushing because if you don't now, you have to get across what you're trying to sell right now. The parity of this game is too great, who can mentally and physically handle the mental strains and toughness are the guys that persevere and come out on top."

When pressed further on what he meant by "I was hell," Fisher responded with a very direct answer.

"Oh, I was an a--hole."

Florida State may lose a couple star players like Dalvin Cook, but with quarterback Deondre Francois back under center for another season and star safety Derwin James returning from injury, the Seminoles will once again be a force to be reckoned with on the national scene.

Fisher's outfit has no time to ease into the season either, as the opening game on Florida State's schedule is against perennial powerhouse Alabama.
