Iowa's Brandon Snyder out indefinitely after suffering torn ACL

Jerry Lai / USA TODAY Sports

Iowa may have to get used to life without a huge presence in its defensive secondary.

The Hawkeyes announced Friday that defensive back Brandon Snyder will be out indefinitely after suffering a torn ACL during spring practice, according to Marc Morehouse of The Cedar Rapids Gazette, citing an official release. Snyder is scheduled to undergo surgery next week and his status for the bulk of this coming season is not yet known.

In 13 games last season, Snyder recorded 53 tackles and shared the team lead in interceptions with three. Snyder also led the team with three forced fumbles.

The team also announced that wide receiver Jerminic Smith has been removed from team activities for academic reasons.
