Ken Griffey Jr. was infamously hellbent on playing for his hometown team in Cincinnati, Ohio, but the former high school wide receiver would've fled the state to play for its biggest rival had he pursued football.

"I probably would have went to Michigan," Griffey said Tuesday on the "Dan Patrick Show."

Griffey added that he actually received more scholarship offers to play football in college than baseball. It's worth noting many expected him to sign a professional baseball contract out of high school, while that wouldn't have been an option with football.

The Hall of Fame outfielder said Ohio State never recruited him to play football anyway, but slyly suggested he wouldn't have been a Buckeye, regardless.

"My brother went there," he cracked.

Griffey, who was born in Pennsylvania but grew up in Cincinnati, hit 630 home runs in the Big Leagues en route to becoming one of the all-time greats. His son, Trey, played wide receiver at Arizona from 2012-16, hauling in 79 receptions for 1,241 yards and six touchdowns.
