Auburn's Tyler Queen announces decision to transfer

The backlog of quarterbacks at Auburn became one man lighter on Tuesday as freshman Tyler Queen announced his decision to transfer away from the program.

Queen, a former four-star recruit in Auburn's class of 2015, made his decision known via Twitter, thanking those at the school for his opportunity and expressing his desire to explore other options to further his career.

"Although I've had a great 2 1/2 years here, I feel like I haven't had a chance to show the player I am capable of being," Queen wrote. "After a lot of prayer and discussion with my family, I feel it is time for me to transfer and explore other opportunities."

Queen appeared in just one game last season after redshirting in 2015, rushing for 11 yards on a single carry against Alabama A&M. And the recent arrival of former five-star Baylor recruit Jarrett Stidham likely lowered the ceiling on Queen's playing time even further.

In his statement, Queen did not provide any hints as to his next destination.
