Paul Chryst doesn't feel he needs spring practice to decide who's going to be his main man under center come the regular season.

The Wisconsin head coach, entering his third season with the Badgers, confirmed that quarterback Alex Hornibrook will be the team's No. 1 option, according to Andy Baggot of UWInsider.com. Hornibrook will be opposed by redshirt freshman Kare Lyles and true freshman Jack Coan in spring camp, but Chryst will be leaning on the sophomore to take firm hold of the reins that come with the starting job.

"He is the guy," Chryst said. "He knows it and he thinks it."

Chryst's comments show a strong sense of security and confidence in Hornibrook, who completed 106 of 181 passes for 1,262 yards and nine touchdowns as a freshman last season.

Wisconsin spring practices are scheduled to begin March 14 and conclude April 21, with 15 individual practices taking place in that time frame.
