After a disappointing season for Notre Dame, Brian Kelly has been hard at work on the recruiting trail and added another feather to his cap Monday with a commitment from Derrik Allen.

The four-star safety joins the Fighting Irish's 2018 recruiting class after receiving offers from other big name programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Michigan, and Ohio State, among others.

"Thank you for all the coaches that have recruited me or even just coached me and helped me get better," Allen wrote on Twitter. "After this long journey my family and I have decided that for the next (four) years I will be attending the University of Notre Dame."

Allen currently finds himself rated 61st on the ESPN Jr. 300, along with being the fifth highest rated safety in the nation.
