Defensive back Corey Winfield has found a new home, switching to West Virginia as a grad transfer after spending four seasons at Syracuse.

In 12 games in 2016, Winfield recorded 41 tackles, a sack, an interception, and defended five passes. He played in 32 career games for the Orange, making 85 tackles, picking off three passes - returning one for a touchdown - and forcing a fumble.

The St. Louis native won't have to sit out this upcoming season because he's already graduated from Syracuse.

Winfield and Syracuse teammate Chauncey Scissum were attacked in April 2016 by a former teammate at a barbecue.

Naesean Howard pleaded guilty to charges of first- and second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
