Amid new allegations at Baylor over the ongoing sexual assault scandal, former Bears athletic director Ian McCaw had a statement released by a lawyer Friday, denying any procedural wrongdoing, as shared by Jake New of Inside Higher Ed.

"To be clear, regarding the recent report from Baylor regarding an alleged sexual assault in 2012, it is important to note that at the time Baylor did not have a Title IX office, provide Title IX education, or have policies or procedures for handling or reporting allegations of sexual assault."

Former head football coach Art Briles and McCaw allegedly discussed a gang rape that occurred in 2012, that involved five football players. However, the incident was not reported to police, instead McCaw went to Briles and his staff to try and resolve the manner.

In 2013, a Baylor football player was allegedly arrested for assault and threatening to kill a non-athlete, when a football operations staff official is said to have tried to talk the victim out of pressing criminal charges.

Briles allegedly texted McCaw about the incident saying, "Just talked to (the player) - he said Waco PD was there - said they were going to keep it quiet - wasn't a set up deal ... I'll get (Colin Shillininglaw) to ck on Sibley (local attorney Jonathan Sibley)."

To which McCaw responded with, "That would be great if they kept it quiet!"

When asked about that specific incident, the spokesperson reading McCaw's lawyers statement said "no comment."
