Wisconsin renews HC Paul Chryst's contract through January 2022

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Paul Chryst will be leading Wisconsin for the foreseeable future, as the school announced in a release Friday that they have renewed his 5-year contract, keeping him in his position until Jan. 30, 2022.

Chryst led the Badgers to an 11-3 record in his second season in command, culminating in a Cotton Bowl victory over Western Michigan. Wisconsin finished the season ranked No. 9 in the final AP poll, after spending most of the year inside the top-10.

The 11-3 season came off the heels of a 10-3 run in 2015, making Chryst the first coach in Wisconsin history to start his career with consecutive 10-win campaigns. Following the completion of the 2016 season, Chryst was named Big Ten coach of the year.
