Alabama assistant coach Mario Cristobal is leaving the Crimson Tide for the offensive coordinator job at Oregon, reports Dan Wolken of USA TODAY Sports.

Cristobal, known as one of the top recruiters in the country, will join Willie Taggart's inaugural Oregon staff and attempt to reignite the Ducks' once-mighty offense.

Oregon ranked 15th in total offense this season, and 27th in scoring offense, but did most of its damage against inferior opponents while struggling against better ones.

Cristobal was the head coach of Florida International from 2007-12. He was fired after a 3-9 campaign that followed two winning seasons. He's spent the last three seasons at Alabama, primarily coaching the offensive line.

The 46-year-old is expected to work alongside David Reaves, with both of them holding the title of co-offensive coordinator.
