Ohio State officially hires Kevin Wilson as offensive coordinator

Andrew Weber / USA TODAY Sports

Ohio State confirmed Tuesday that former Indiana coach Kevin Wilson will be the school's new offensive coordinator, almost a week after the move was widely reported to be happening.

Wilson will also serve as tight-ends coach for the Buckeyes, and will share offensive coordinator duties with quarterbacks coach Ryan Day.

The veteran coach has been with Indiana for the past six seasons, before resigning following the 2016 campaign amidst reports of pressuring injured players to play through pain.

Prior to taking the Indiana job, Wilson was a highly-regarded offensive coordinator for Oklahoma, winning the Broyles Award as the nation's top assistant coach in 2008. The Sooners won six Big 12 titles and played in three national championship games with Wilson running the offense.

It appears Ohio State's offense will look drastically different next season, co-offensive coordinator Tim Beck has already left for Texas, and it appears his partner Ed Warinner is departing for a job on P.J. Fleck's staff at Minnesota.

Indiana's offense ranked 88th in the country in scoring last season, but it will be interesting to see what Wilson can do with the superior talent on the Ohio State roster.
