Former 5-star CB Kendall Sheffield joining Ohio State

Ohio State may have been blown out of the college football playoffs, but it has enjoyed an excellent week on the recruiting trail.

Former five-star cornerback Kendall Sheffield committed to the Buckeyes on Tuesday after spending the past season in junior college.

"After a great season at Blinn College, and an exciting recruiting process, I have decided to finish my collegiate career at The Ohio State University," Sheffield said, according to Gerry Hamilton of ESPN. "I am excited to join Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes, and look forward to helping Buckeye nation return to the College Football Playoff."

Sheffield signed with Alabama in 2015, but opted to transfer. He played with Blinn College in 2016.

With safety Malik Hooker off to the NFL and corner Marshon Lattimore possibly following suit, securing Sheffield, as well as five-star safety Jeffrey Okudah, gives Ohio State two solid pieces in the secondary to replace them.
