Report: Ex-Arizona QB Anu Solomon transferring to Baylor

Casey Sapio-USA TODAY Sports

Former Arizona quarterback Anu Solomon is expected to transfer to Baylor for his final season of NCAA eligibility, sources told Michael Lev of the Arizona Daily Star.

Solomon, a graduate transfer who announced his departure from the Wildcats on Dec. 13, will be eligible to play for the Bears immediately.

The Hawaii native's pending arrival in Waco is a significant addition for Baylor and new head coach Matt Rhule, who inherited little depth at the quarterback position upon taking the job.

Freshman Zach Smith - who filled in for an injured Seth Russell at the end of the year but was unsure of his future with the program beyond 2016 - is the only Baylor quarterback currently on scholarship. The Bears also have one signal-caller, Charlie Brewer, en route to the program as a three-star recruit.

Solomon struggled with injuries over the past two years, limiting his playing time and effectiveness, but was one of the top pivots in the Pac-12 in 2014. He threw 28 touchdowns and only nine interceptions that year, and finished his Arizona career with 49 touchdowns and 16 interceptions.
