Watch: Holly Rowe shares story of James Conner helping her fight cancer

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

There were a number of honors given out Thursday at the Home Depot College Football Awards, but none was more powerful than the Disney Spirit Award being given to Pitt's James Conner.

The Panthers star running back missed the 2015 season after being diagnosed with cancer, only to beat the disease and return this season in spectacular form.

ESPN's Holly Rowe, a fellow cancer survivor, had the honor of presenting the award to Conner, and broke down while telling a story about how seeing a video of the Pitt star inspired her during her battle with the disease.

Conner rushed for over 1,000 yards this season and scored 20 touchdowns, but clearly the impact on the field pales in comparison to what he did off it.
