Texas running back D'Onta Foreman may not be winning the Hesiman this year, but he took home a nice consolation prize Thursday.

Foreman claimed the Doak Walker Award as the nation's best running back, after a 2016 campaign that saw him run for 2,028 yards and 15 touchdowns.

The junior burst onto the scene after fellow Longhorns running back Chris Warren was lost early in the year to an injury, and was one of the few bright spots in Austin in 2016.

Foreman had a pair of 200-plus yard rushing games this season and wowed against Texas Tech with a 341-yard performance.

With the Longhorns not heading to a bowl, Foreman already announced he will be taking his talents to the NFL.
