Alabama senior Reuben Foster was named the Butkus Award winner Sunday, given to the nation's top linebacker.

Foster was presented the award at the Crimson Tide's team dinner in Birmingham, Ala. by Dick Butkus.

“Reuben Foster is a complete linebacker with the instincts, closing burst, explosion and on-field leadership traits that set the tone for the nation’s top defense. He is a fearless striker who plays the game with intensity and passion. The way he uncoils on contact and the way his teammates gravitate toward him are both reminiscent of Mr. Butkus,” the award's committee said in a statement.

Foster beat out Zach Cunningham of Vanderbilt, Jarrad Davis of Florida, Kendell Beckwith of LSU, and Josey Jewell of Iowa.

The 6-foot-1 Auburn, Ala. native recorded 94 tackles and four sacks this season, and joins C.J. Mosley, Rolando McClain, and Derrick Thomas as the only Alabama players to claim the prize.
