Fisher calls Derwin James doubtful for Orange Bowl

Melina Vastola / USA TODAY Sports

Derwin James hasn't seen game action for No. 11 Florida State since Sept. 10, and it's quite possible he won't see action in the Orange Bowl either.

Head coach Jimbo Fisher shed doubt on Fisher's return for the Seminoles' contest against No. 6 Michigan on Dec. 30 in Florida. James tore cartilage in his left knee during Florida State's 52-8 victory over Charleston Southern.

"I doubt if he does (play), but we'll see," Fisher said on a Sunday conference call, according to Safid Deen of the Orlando Sentinel.

James opened the season strong against Ole Miss, with an eight-tackle and one-interception performance, but only managed three tackles the following week before suffering the injury.
