Let's be real, nobody cares about Oklahoma State's controversial loss to Central Michigan that could wind up really affecting the playoff. It's all about Cowboys coach Mike Gundy's mullet.

After weeks of wondering, Gundy finally did us all a favor and explained the origin of his mullet, saying his youngest son Gage bears responsibility for the style, having teased his father in the summer about his hair getting long at the back.

"I said to him, 'If you keep bothering me, I'm not going to cut it,'" the Cowboys coach told Jake Trotter of ESPN. "Now, I'm kind of enjoying it."

Gundy's not the only one relishing the glory of his elongated hair.

"I just love looking at it every day," Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer said. "It's one of the highlights of my day to see where it's coming down his neck and touching his collar and now it's below the collar. You come in the office every day and you check it out, see what's happening with it. The wind will catch a hold of it and it'll look like a kite with a tail every now and then."

The mullet is so glorious that even Oklahoma State's opponents can't help but notice, and admire it.

"It's ferocious," Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield said. "It's very dirty. You've got to respect that he's rocking it."

Said Sooners coach Bob Stoops, "Heck, it's growing on me through the year, through the season. Maybe wasn't such a fan early on. But I've come to like it."
