Ohio State lands 4-star LB Baron Browning

Jerome Miron / USA TODAY Sports

Ohio State scored a major win on the recruiting trail Thursday, as four-star linebacker Baron Browning announced he's joining the Buckeyes for the 2017 season.

The Buckeyes are certainly a national brand when it comes to recruiting and showed it yet again with Browning's commitment, landing the fifth-highest prospect in the state of Texas.

The 6-foot-3, 232-pounder is rated as the second-best outside linebacker in the country for the class of 2017, and is listed 29th overall on the ESPN 300.

Browning took official visits to UCLA, Florida State, Alabama, and Michigan before deciding on Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes, and will join Chase Young - the fourth-ranked defensive-end recruit in the country - in terrorizing Big Ten offenses for years to come.

With the latest pledge, Ohio State now has 15 four-star recruits already committed for the 2017 cycle.
