Notre Dame's Malik Zaire: Given release from Notre Dame

Zaire was granted his release from Notre Dame on Wednesday, ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

The only condition of his transfer is that he can't go to a school on Notre Dame's 2017 schedule, with North Carolina the one exception, for some reason. A source told ESPN that Zaire is considering Florida, Pittsburgh, and Wisconsin for the time being. Zaire would likely win the starting job at any of those three schools, but Florida and Pittsburgh may have the easiest initial routes to playing time. A thoroughly competent starter prior to the ascendance of DeShone Kizer, Zaire should provide both stability and upside for whatever school he goes to.
