West Virginia's Howard: Senior Day just 'another opportunity to get booed'

Senior Day is usually one of the most memorable moments for a college football player, but West Virginia's Skyler Howard certainly isn't looking forward to the occasion this Saturday.

When told that this weekend's game against Baylor would be the Mountaineers' Senior Day and his last home game, Howard had a very surprising response.

"Another opportunity to get booed, walking out there with my mom," Howard told Bob Hertzel of the Exponent Telegram. "I wish I could just go out there and play the game instead of doing the ceremony and everything that happens on Senior Day."

The senior pivot ranks fourth in the Big 12 with 24 touchdown passes this year, but has often received a frosty reception from the Mountaineer fans. While senior day might not be something he's looking forward to, he realizes the rest of the team probably feels differently.

"Senior Day is good, you know, for the guys who really feel welcome and at home, it's good," Howard said. "The guys in our team room, that's good to send the seniors off the right way."

West Virginia hasn't won 10 games since 2011, but enters Saturday's game as a 17-point favorite over Baylor.
