Saban: Fournette back and 'maybe better' than ever

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Leonard Fournette returned to action last week with a message for the rest of the country, and Alabama coach Nick Saban heard it loud and clear.

In his first game since Sept. 24, the LSU running back posted 284 yards on Ole Miss, all but forcing Saban to acknowledge the gaudy performance as one of the best in recent memory.

"I haven't really seen a guy dominate a game like he did a long, long time," Saban told reporters Wednesday, according to Sam Khan Jr. of ESPN. "He looks as good as ever, and maybe better."

Fournette missed three games because of an ankle injury, but looked fresh during his pounding of the Rebels.

However, the junior runner has struggled in the past against Saban's program, and is still looking for his breakout performance against the Crimson Tide before he takes his talents to the NFL.

Fournette vs. Alabama:

Year Carries Yards TDs
2014 21 79 0
2015 19 31 1

Fournette will be in tough once again versus the Tide, as Alabama owns the nation's No. 1 rushing defense.
