HC Scott Frost explains why UCF didn't accept Civil ConFLiCT trophy

UCF head coach Scott Frost finally addressed why his team did not even acknowledge the Civil ConFLiCT trophy it "won," following the Knights' victory over "rival" UConn on Saturday.

"Our focus on this team is every game is the same," Frost told Brandon Helwig of Rivals.com. "We're going to approach every game the same and we're going to treat every game the same.

"Every game is a rivalry to us. I really believe in college football traditions and rivalries. I think they're great. To be honest with you, we were so locked into winning that game that a trophy was the last thing on our minds at the end of that game."

The diplomatic answer came after Huskies head coach Bob Diaco created the Civil ConFLiCT rivalry in 2015 between the two schools that have no tradition or geographical similarities, other than abbreviations for both the states of Florida and Connecticut appearing in the word "conflict."

UConn took the hardware home last season, while the Knights left the trophy on the sideline before a Husky staffer picked it up and put it on the UConn bench and placed a towel over it.
