BYU's Williams doesn't play vs. Boise State after reinjuring ankle

Joe Camporeale / USA TODAY Sports

BYU's Jamaal Williams sat out Thursday's game against Boise State after he re-aggravated a right ankle injury during pregame warmups, according to Kyle Bonagura of ESPN.

The senior running back reportedly injured the ankle earlier in the week, but the Cougars hoped he'd be healthy enough to play against the Broncos. Backup running back Squally Canada started in place of Williams, and recorded 88 rushing yards on 21 carries.

Williams has been a force for the Cougars so far this season, recording 942 rushing yards on 165 carries, leading to 10 touchdowns.
