One day after the Big 12 decided against expansion, Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard discussed the makeup of the conference, the realities of how the Big 12 functions, and where the conference is headed.

"I'm grateful the president came to the same conclusion that the athletic directors have been saying for a long time. It's unfortunate it went through the public process that it did, but in the end I believe we go to the right spot in the road," Pollard told KXNO's The Morning Rush.

Pollard then discussed the future of the conference in regards to expansion and if it'll ever occur.

"That's ended. Now some people are going to speculate for the next couple of weeks, but hopefully they'll move onto other subjects because we've set in stone what we're going to do now."

The Cyclones' athletic director was candid on the importance of having Texas and Oklahoma, regardless if the two programs have more power and influence than the others schools.

"The Big 12 exists because we’ve got Texas and Oklahoma in the room. If we take Texas and Oklahoma out of the room, we’re the Mountain West Conference, and we’re gonna get $3 million," said Pollard.

He went on to add, "We've got two star players, whether people want to like it or not, we have two star players, Texas and Oklahoma."
