Analysis: Texas A&M has no chance against top-ranked Alabama

The 2016 season has been Alabama, and then everyone else. This week's unlucky opponent, Texas A&M, will be another log thrown into the wood chipper known as the Crimson Tide machine.

Many have viewed the Aggies as the best chance of upending Alabama in the regular season, but on paper, it has mismatch written all over it.

Texas A&M has missed more than 90 tackles through its first six games this season, more than any other school, according to Pro Football Focus. The Aggies have come up empty on just over 21 percent of their attempted tackles, which has to have offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin and the Tide offense licking their lips.

In the video above from the Tennessee game, running back Alvin Kamara should have been tackled for a loss. Instead he escapes four Aggie defenders, and almost a fifth, for a 19-yard gain and an all too familiar sight this season for the Texas A&M defense.

Freshman quarterback Jalen Hurts has burst onto the scene as both a passer and runner, totaling 17 combined touchdowns in Alabama's first seven games. The Crimson Tide's playmaking quartet of running backs Damien Harris and Bo Scarbrough, and receivers Calvin Ridley and ArDarius Stewart, will be too athletic, and too much, for Texas A&M to tie up.

Even with a potent offense itself, quarterback Trevor Knight and the Aggies have not faced a defense the caliber of Alabama, where it has scored seven touchdowns - two less than South Carolina's offense has this season.

There is a better chance of Alabama mimicking the last time these two schools played in Tuscaloosa, a 59-0 drubbing, than the Aggies providing the upset.
