Baylor AD: Jeremy Faulk dismissal 'a miscommunication' with coaching staff

Baylor athletic director Mack Rhoades said it was a miscommunication between head coach Jim Grobe and university officials, over the dismissal of defensive tackle Jeremy Faulk during the summer.

Grobe refuted a claim that he and university officials agreed on Faulk being dismissed from the program, after he was accused of a sexual assault that allegedly occurred in April.

After Grobe told reporters on Oct. 11 he had agreed to only suspend Faulk back in June, Baylor assistant coaches took to social media posting the exact same message, at the exact same time.

Rhoades tried to cool the tension Monday over the dispute between the coaching staff and university administration.

"I believe it was a miscommunication, so now we're moving forward," Rhoades said. "You have nine assistants that are hurting and feel like they've been painted with this broad brush. And they're good people. And there was some frustration. But certainly I wouldn't characterize it as a divide between the administration and our coaches. I think we're on the same page."

Even with former coach Art Briles being fired in May, and all of the media attention the university has received over the alleged sexual assault cases, Baylor remains undefeated at 6-0 and ranked ninth this season.
