Report: Georgia's Chubb out vs. Tennessee with ankle injury

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Georgia running back Nick Chubb will sit out Saturday's game against Tennessee due to the ankle injury he sustained last week, a source told ESPN's Brett McMurphy.

The report confirms the sentiments Chubb's father expressed in an interview with Chip Towers of the Atlanta Journal Constitution earlier Friday.

"I don't think he's going to play," Henry Chubb said. "He's got that high-ankle sprain. He twisted it trying to make a cut against Ole Miss. He's in good spirits and all. He understands it. The doctor said he'd need a couple weeks, so he'll probably play next week."

Chubb reportedly suffered the ankle injury two weeks ago, but re-aggravated it against the Rebels. Last year against Tennessee, he endured a gruesome season-ending knee injury on the game's first play.

In four games as a junior, Chubb has rushed for 422 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 5.1 yards per carry.
