Report: LSU's Orgeron made decision to fire OC Cameron

Derick E. Hingle / USA TODAY Sports

LSU interim head coach Ed Orgeron made the decision to fire offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, sources told Andrew Lopez of NOLA.com.

Cameron was canned Sunday along with head coach Les Miles. It was initially believed the two were sent out the door together in a package deal.

However, the Tigers gave Orgeron the authority to make whatever staff changes he saw fit, sources told ESPN's Chris Low, and he used it to axe the fourth-year play-caller.

Cameron faced heavy scrutiny over his tenure as the Tigers' passing game failed to progress, but Miles remained loyal to him until the end.

Tight ends coach Steve Ensminger was promoted to offensive coordinator following Cameron's exit.
