UCLA's Nate Starks: Absent from Week Two contest

Starks was not in uniform against UNLV on Saturday after not traveling with the Bruins the previous week for a season-opener at Texas A&M, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Analysis:

Starks had been allowed to practice with the rest of the team last week, yet remained mysteriously absent in Saturday's 42-21 victory over UNLV. The Los Angeles Times' Ben Bolch points out that head coach Jim Mora does not usually announce suspensions, but writes, "Starks being held out had the feel of a disciplinary measure because he was not injured and no other explanation was given for his absence." In place of the junior, Soso Jamabo made a second-straight start for the Bruins at tailback, and finished with a team-high 90 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries. No word yet if Starks' status will change heading into a Week Three road matchup at Brigham Young.
