UTEP faces a tough task this weekend with a trip to Texas, and the Miners will be forced to start backup Kavika Johnson at quarterback after starter Zack Greenlee suffered multiple injuries last week.

Johnson was used in multiple packages by head coach Sean Kugler in 2015, seeing time as a quarterback, running back, and receiver. The sophomore caught two passes for 26 yards in the Week 1 win over New Mexico State.

Greenlee has yet to practice this week, and Kugler divulged on his radio show Wednesday that the quarterback "will probably miss one-to-two weeks" with a slight tear in his MCL, a separated shoulder, and a broken finger.

After playing Texas on Saturday, the Miners host Army on Sept. 17 and Southern Miss the following week.
