Footage surfaced Tuesday of Jameis Winston's passionate speech to Florida State during halftime of the team's opening week game against Ole Miss, but the former Seminole star insists his performance wasn't planned.

"I tried to be quiet when I first got there, but I felt we needed it," the 2013 Heisman trophy winner said to ESPN's Jenna Laine about his Seminoles trailing the Rebels 28-13 at half.

"Coach (Jimbo) Fisher, he's a great coach and I know they had it in them, just had to light some fire."

Winston, who won the national championship with the Seminoles before being drafted first overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015, certainly fired up the team as they quickly erased the 15-point deficit and won the game 45-34. The speech went viral, but despite the popularity, Winston can't even remember what his words were.

"I can't even give you a summary of what I did," he said. "It was truly just from the heart. I really love those guys in there.

The star of the game was freshman quarterback Deondre Francois, who many are comparing to Winston for his early success in his first college season. Francois threw for 419 yards in the win, a number only surpassed by Winston for freshman at Florida State. The current Seminoles quarterback definitely has the endorsement of the former star.

"I'll tell you about that No. 12 (Francois), he's a baller," Winston gushed about the new pivot.

Francois gets his second chance to lead the Seminoles this week when they host Charleston Southern.
