Kentucky has officially lost one of its key members of its defensive line, as a UK spokesman confirmed Friday that defensive tackle Regie Meant is no longer enrolled as a student at the school, according to Jon Hale of The Courier-Journal.

Meant left the team indefinitely before preseason camp began with what was labeled an unspecified personal matter. Head coach Mark Stoops addressed the situation at the time and stated that he was not sure when Meant would return.

Stoops declined to speculate or elaborate on the reasoning behind Meant's departure.

"It has nothing to do with football, nothing to do with us or playing or anything like that," Stoops said. "It has to do with himself. I ask you just leave that and respect him."

Meant was expected to start at defensive tackle for the Wildcats as a junior this season. In 2015, he racked up a total of 31 tackles and one sack in 10 games.
