Michigan's Speight: Nobody can read Harbaugh's mind on QB race

Michigan's quarterback battle is thought to be a three-man race, and one of the candidates believes guessing the winner would be a waste of time.

"It's coach's decision and not many really know what goes on in coach (Jim) Harbaugh's mind," junior Wilton Speight told Nick Baumgardner of MLive on Friday.

The uncertainty surrounding the most important position on the field isn't exactly new to Speight or his teammates. A year ago, the team didn't learn its starting quarterback until the first game began.

"Last year we knew when Jake (Rudock) ran onto the field," Speight said.

Speight is competing with former Houston transfer John O'Korn and senior Shane Morris. True freshman Brandon Peters is also in the mix, but he's expected to spend his first year holding a clipboard.

Speight saw action in a handful of games last year, completing nine of 25 pass attempts for 73 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

Michigan opens the season Sept. 3 versus Hawaii.
