Mississippi State's Cleveland to miss season, Jiles 1st month with injuries

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen told reporters Wednesday that the Bulldogs will be without a couple key defensive backs for an extended portion of the 2016 season.

Senior Tolando Cleveland will be out the entire campaign with a torn ACL, while fellow upperclassman Cedric Jiles will miss the month of September with a broken arm.

Both players represent a significant loss to the Bulldogs secondary, which already lost Taveze Calhoun and Will Redmond from last year's squad.

Mississippi State opens the season Sept. 3 against South Alabama.
