Michigan loses commitment from 4-star recruit Leonard Taylor

Jim Harbaugh's success on the recruiting trail has been well-documented over the past year, but Monday he lost a blue chip prospect as four-star athlete Leonard Taylor decommitted from the school.

"After much discussion with my family, I have decided I will back off my commitment to the University of Michigan," Taylor said in a statement on Twitter. "I truly feel this is the best course of action in order to make the right decision for me."

As a member of the 2018 class, Taylor was still two years from stepping on the field for the Wolverines, but was ranked as the top prospect in that cycle for the program. The Ohio native was ranked as the third-best player in the state, and is listed as the 45th overall recruit on the ESPN 300.

At 6-foot-5, 258 pounds, Taylor plays both the tight end and defensive end positions for his high school program, and was being recruited by schools such as Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Tennessee prior to his Michigan pledge.
