Notre Dame's Dexter Williams: Arrested Friday on gun and marijuana charge

Williams was one five Notre Dame players arrested Friday night, Eric Hansen of ND Insider reports. He will face charges of misdemeanor marijuana possession and possession of a handgun without a license, according to the report.

Analysis:

Williams and several teammates were pulled over for speeding late Friday night. A police search turned up a loaded handgun and marijuana. Head coach Brian Kelly was not available for comment as of Saturday morning, but the charges are severe enough to where discipline is likely imminent. Williams, a sophomore, is expected to be a part of Notre Dame's running back rotation this fall. Friday's incident could have a serious impact on his role, however.
